Leaders of all major American Jewish organizations attended funeral services today for Moses W. Beckelman, JDC director-general for overseas operations, who died suddenly three days ago, shortly after his arrival here from Paris to address the 41st annual meeting of the Joint Distribution Committee, which is scheduled to take place this Thursday.
The funeral ceremony was conducted by Rabbi Edward Klein, of the Stephen S. Wise Free Synagogue. Mr. Beckelman was also eulogized by Rabbi Jonah Wise, who spoke on behalf of the JDC, emphasizing the role which Mr. Beckelman played in that organization and his work to bring aid to hundreds of thousands of needy Jews overseas. The body was then taken to Philadelphia where it will be buried at Har Zion Cemetery tomorrow.
