Leaders of the Jewish Culture Union appealed to Minister of Propaganda Joseph Goebbels yesterday to rescind his order suspending the organization’s activities.
They received no definite reply.
Suspension of the union’s activities following the assassination of Wilhelm Gustloff, Nazi leader in Switzerland served to halt all Jewish cultural and artistic gatherings. Performances of Jewish plays were banned under the edict.
Preparations were made to receive with great ceremony the body of Wilhelm Gustloff, slain Nazi leader, when it arrives over the Swiss border today.
Reichsfuehrer Hitler, Rudolf Hess, Nazi Party leader and Propaganda Minister Joseph Goebbels sent floral wreaths to be placed on the coffin as soon as it is brought across the frontier. Burial will be in Schwerin Mecklenburg.
