Five leaders in Young Men’s Hebrew Association work in France, Belgium, Scandinavia, Italy and North Africa will come to the United States for one year of intensive training in Jewish Community Center and Y.M.H.A. activities under a grant of $15,000 from the Ford Foundation to the World Federation of Y.M.H.A. ‘s and Jewish Community Centers, it was announced here today by Frank L. Weil, president of the World Federation.
The grant will go to defray the travel and maintenance expenses of the five leaders during their period of study in the United States. The National Jewish Welfare Board will sponsor the program in the United States. Louis Kraft, general secretary of the World Federation, will leave for Europe this month to interview and select candidates for the program. The applicants will be screened by a specially appointed committee of qualified persons. The training program will include assignment to a selected Y.M.H.A. or Jewish Community Center for in-service training.
