Leading Czech government officials, including Prime Minister Mirek Topolanek, reaffirmed its position as a chief ally of Israel and supporter of Jewish causes during a visit by leaders of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations. Malcolm Hoenlein, executive vice chairman of the Presidents Conference, said the officials pledged to make sure the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe maintains a focus on combating anti-Semitism and agreed to help raise the profile on Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s repeated calls for the destruction of Israel.
