Three prominent British Jews were today named to the five-member board of trustees of the “Nazi Victims Relief Trust” established by the British Government to distribute funds to certain categories of needy victims of Nazi religious or racial persecution.
The three are: Barnett Janner, MP and president of the Board of Deputies of British Jews and of the Zionist Federation of Britain; Leonard Montefiore, a leader of the Central British Fund, a relief agency, and Harry Sacher, Zionist personality.
When the British Government announced a year ago the establishment of the trust fund, it also set aside 250,000 pounds ($700,000) for its use. The funds come from Nazi assets seized in Britain when World War II broke out.
