Great Britain’s changed attitude with regard to the Palestine situation received favorable comment today in League circles.
The Colonial Office’s vigorously worded statement of policy, accompanying the recent announcement that the entire First Division would be sent to the Holy Land to put down the Arab uprising, drew the approval of observers who have been closely following developments in the 21-week-old disorders.
The question of Palestine, which was turned over to Great Britain under a League of Nations mandate, is expected to be aired at the forthcoming Assembly meeting.
Developments in Syria, whose mandate is held by France, are also expected to come up for discussion by the Assembly. The World Jewish Congress, recently organized at Geneva, intends to ask the League of Nations to ensure minority rights for Jews of Syria similar to those accorded other minorities, it was learned.
