Gratification was expressed here today in League of Nation circles over Foreign Minister Pierre Laval’s statement in the French Chamber of Deputies that if Saar inhabitants vote for the status quo in the coming plebiscite they could, at a future date, vote to rejoin Germany.
The declaration of the French Foreign Minister emphasized the fact that France considered the Saar problem as an international one which could be settled only by the Council of the League.
