Pope Plus received Charles A. Levine in special audience in the small throne room of the Vatican on Monday. Oct. 3.
Levine was accompanied only by M. Wrangel, a nephew of the Russian General Baron Wrangel, who is serving as his social secretary.
The Pope said he was greatly pleased to greet the trans-Atlantic flier and then blessed Levine his family and all future flights.
Levine on entering the Pontiffs presence, the Associated Press reports, bent his Knee and Kissed the papal ring. He told the Pope the honor of being received was the greatest he had ever experienced.
Levine’s reception in the small throne room of the Vatican marked the first time any American has been received in this room without conforming to the rigid dress regulations of the Vatcan. He went bareheaded from his hotel to the audience wearing the same blue business suit in which he ## to Europe.
