In a letter to the Security Council, the Government of Lebanon today accused Israel of responsibility in last week’s “small war” in Jerusalem between Jordan and Israel.
The letter, which the Lebanese delegation asked be circulated among Security Council members, described the three-day exchange of shots as “yet another act of aggression which was perpetrated by the armed forces of Israel against the Holy City of Jerusalem.” The Lebanese missive repeats the Arab version, which Israel has denied in a letter previously circulated. Israel pinned responsibility for precipitating the battle on Jordan troops.
