Lebanon refused an offer of $20 billion to settle the Palestinian refugees living on its territory, President Emile Lahoud told a local newspaper. Lahoud said unspecified “international parties” had offered the money so that Lebanon would abandon its policy of denying settlement to the refugees, who left their homes in Israel during the 1948 War of Independence.
