Myron T. Herrick, the American Ambassador to France; Jules Jusserand, former French Ambassador to the United States, and other American and French notables joined in the inauguration of the Lee Kohns chair of American literature and civilization at the Sorbonne, where both the Ambassador and ex-Ambassadar lauded the endowment as an aid to a closer intellectual union of the two nations.
Professor Charles Cestre is the first occupant of the Kohns chair.
Ambassador Herrick praised the generosity of Mr. Kohns in providing funds for the chair. Mr. Kohns’ recent death in New York was lamented by the speakers.
