Asked by the Jewish Daily Bulletin to comment on the story in yesterday’s “New York World” that he might not be a candidate for reelection, Lieut-Governor Herbert Lehman, in a telephone conversation from his office in Albany, declared, “I have not thought about the matte one way or the other. I have been too busy with other things.”
The story in the “World” pointed out that Lieut.-Governor Lehman was planning to retire at the end of his term and return to his varied business and philanthropic interests. Since his election, it was pointed out, he had severed his business connections, and had been forced to devote less time than he would have liked, to the many welfare organizations in which he has so long been interested.
