A pledge to continue fighting against the “dreadful” McCarran Walter immigration Act despite his impending retirement from the Senate was made here today by Senator Herbert H. Lehman. He spoke at a luncheon of the Women’s Division of the American Jewish Congress.
Nothing that there is a sentiment in the United States to waive the provisions of the restrictive act for Hungarian refugees. Sen. Lehman said: “I am for waiving those provisions, too, not only for the Hungarian refugees but for all refugees. I am for waiving those provisions right off the statute books of America.”
