The 51st annual meeting of the Central Conference of American Rabbis closed yesterday, reelecting President Emil W. Leipziger, New Orleans, and the following other officers: James G. Heller, Cincinnati, vice-president; Harry S. Margolis, St. Paul, treasurer; Isaac E. Marcuson, Macon, Ga., recording secretary for his 24th year, and Sidney Regner, Reading, Pa., corresponding secretary.
The meeting approved the recommendations made in Rabbi Leipziger’s annual message, which include endorsement of a “cooly-conceived and balanced” national defense policy, a proposal that Jewish institutions of learning create graduate schools and research departments in order to make room for rabbis and scholars from East European centers of learning and praise for the Dominican refugee settlement project.
