Leon Blum, the imprisoned former French Prime Minister, was today reported to be “seriously ill.” Some of the former members of the French Senate have appealed to Marshal Petain to transfer Blum from his place of banishment to a sanatorium, the press here stated. He is reported to be on the verge of a mental breakdown and in need of special medical treatment.
Simultaneously, it was disclosed here today that Blum’s flat in Paris has been commandeered by German military officials, and his famous library there has been dispersed.
