Leon Finkelstein, noted Jewish essayist and critic who in pre-war Poland was one of the most eminent Jewish literary figures, died here last night at the age of 55. During the war he escaped to Russia where, along with thousands of other Jews, he was sent to Siberia and assigned to cutting lumber for several years.
