Leonard Bernstein, noted American conductor, was given a tremendous ovation here during a special concert which he conducted for Jewish troops in the Jerusalem area. The garrison commander, following the close of the concert, pinned the Jerusalem Military Insigne on the conductor’s lapel, while the entire audience of 2,000 Israeli soldiers applauded for nearly half an hour.
