A police spokesman said today that the investigation into the mailing of letter bombs from Amsterdam post offices has been abandoned because it proved fruitless. The wave of booby-trapped mail sent to Israeli officials and others all over the world last week originated in Amsterdam. Police here denied that they wanted to question the Saudi Arabian Consul General Ahmed Rabbani in connection with the letter bombs. The Israeli newspaper Maariv linked Rabbani with Palestinian terrorism. A spokesman for Rabbani here called the charge “horrible lies.” Rabbani is presently visiting Algeria.
