The estate of Levy Mayer of Chicago. who died August 14, 1922, was appraised yesterday at $8,499,097. The bulk of his estate is in Chicago.
By the will Mr. Mayer gave all his personal effects to his wife, Rachel Mayer, and also left her half the residuary estate for life, after which it goes to her daughters, Madeline M. Low and Hortense M. Hirsch.
The daughters get the rest of the residue, one third when their father died, a third when they reach 35 years and a third at 40 years.
Mr. Mayer left $100,000 to his executors to distribute within two years among such Chicago Charities as they should select.
Mayer was one of the best known corporation lawyers in the country, representing among other large interests, the “big five” packers.
