Miss Libby Benedict, who has just returned from a trip to Europe and Palestine, emphasized that Palestine is the place “where a Jew can labor with his hands in the most menial of tasks and yet can cultivate an intellectual and spiritual personality,” before more than 200 men and women attending the open meeting of the Concourse Zionist District at Temple Adath Israel.
Cantor Moses Nathanson entertained the audience with an individual interpretation of Palestinian folk songs. Dr. Hyman D. Silver, chairman of the membership committee, appealed for increased membership. A Purim festival will be held March 4. Meyer Goldberg, vice chairman of the district, is expected to address the audience on, “Mordecai the Zionist.”
