The liberal Jews in Polish Silesia have organized in a Union of Democratic Jews for the purpose of promoting religious liberalism. According to the constitution adopted by the body, Judaism is a religion only and Jews are a religious, ethical and spiritual community.

The organization will seek to protect Jewish interests in the religious, cultural, economic and political fields. It will also take steps to combat anti-Semitism. The program rejects “all efforts toward Jewish isolation and especially Zionism.”

The Union of Liberal Jews in Germany has sent a message of greeting to the new organization, expressing satisfaction with its aims.
