Liberal members of the Russian Parliament called for a resolution denouncing an anti-Semitic statement made by a prominent member of that body. The move came after Communist Party legislator Viktor Ilyukhin blamed influential Jews in President Boris Yeltsin’s inner circle for the “genocide” of ethnic Russians since the collapse of communism. Meanwhile, a leading Jewish tycoon, Boris Berezovsky, reiterated his call for a ban on the Communist Party.
