Liberal Party Rejects Proposal to Merge with United Labor Party

The independent Liberal Party today rejected a proposal by the Party whip in the Knesset (Parliament), Izhar Harari, that it join forces with the newly merged United Labor Party and stated its intention to remain independent of any parliamentary bloc in the next elections. The vote for independence by the Party’s executive committee was an endorsement of the policy recommended by the Party’s leader, Moshe Kol. Mr. Kol is Minister of Tourism in the coalition government.
