Rabbi Edward Israel was reelected president at the twelfth annual conference of the Seaboard Zionist Region, convening here in a two-day session, which opened yesterday.
Other officers elected include Harry T. Kellman, honorary president; H. L. Caplan, Daniel Ellison, Isidore Hershfield, Louis E. Spiegler, Mrs. Israel Shapiro, and Dr. Louis L. Kaplan, vice-presidents; Simon Land, treasurer, and Simon J. Levin, executive secretary.
The region’s quota of $194,000 in the United Jewish Appeal was enthusiastically adopted by the delegates. H. L. Caplan is Baltimore regional chairman for the Appeal and Isaac Potts is the Baltimore associate.
Among the important resolutions adopted yesterday was one to stop the rift in Zionist ranks. The 1,600 Zionist membership quota was likewise adopted.
Judged William M. Lewis and Mrs. David Greenberg addressed last night’s banquet attended by over 500 delegates and guests from thirty communities. Hadassah sessions continue today, with Mrs. William Saxon presiding.
