Max J. Garmaise of Montreal, honorary secretary of the Federation of Young Judaea of Canada, has left on an extensive tour of the western provinces in the interests of the movement. He will spend six weeks in the west and will visit Fort William, Winnipeg, Regina, Moose Jaw, Calgary, Edmonton, Vergreville, Saskatoon, Prince Albert, Kamsack, Dauphin and Brandon. He also will attend the tenth national convention of Canadian Young Judaea, which this year is being held in- Saskatoon on Sept. 2, 3 and 4, as the official representative of the national office of the Federation.

Garmaise has been an active leader in Canadian Young Judaea since 1919, shortly after the inception of the movement. He became treasurer of the Montreal center in 1926 and secretary in 1927. During the years 1927-30, while pursuing his studies in the Faculty of arts at Bishop’s College, he was director of Sherbrooke Young Judaea. Upon his return to Montreal in 1930 he was appointed supervisor of the local Judaean organization, an office which he held for two years. Since 1931 he has been the honorary secretary of Canadian Young Judaea. Garmaise was recently admitted to the Quebec bar and has entered upon his legal practice in Montreal.
