A plan for the reorganization of the New Jersey Branch of the United Synagogue of America will be presented at the annual Spring conference to be held at Temple Emanu-El on Sunday, April 8.
Louis Moss, president of the United Synagogue of America, will open the sessions on Sunday morning with a message of greeting. Rabbi Samuel M. Cohen, executive director; Mrs. Leo Abrams, president of the Women’s League, and William Klausner, of the Young People’s League, will also extend greetings to the convention.
DR. AMENT TO SPEAK
Dr. Samuel A. Ament will welcome the delegates on behalf of the Paterson Temple Emanu-El. George Abrash, president of the local men’s club, will address the convention. The annual report will be rendered by Rabbi Charles I. Hoffman, state president.
“How to Strengthen the Synagogue” will be the theme of the discussion during the afternoon session. The financial side will be discussed by Louis Obermeyer, of Philadelphia; “The Mobilization of Manpower,” by Rabbi Reuben Kaufman, of Paterson; “The Extension of the Synagogue Into the Community,” by William Raphael, of Hillside, N. J., and “The Organization of the State Branch,” by Rabbi Benjamin Plotkin, of Jersey City.
TO HOLD BANQUET
A banquet will be held in the evening, at which time addresses will be heard from Sol Strook, New York attorney; Charles Edward Russell, president of the Pro-Palestine Federation, and George Gold, president of the Paterson Temple Emanu-El. Rabbi Kaufman will act as toastmaster.
A special noon luncheon for the delegates will be held. Guests will be addressed by Rabbi Julius Silberfield, of the B’nai Abraham congregation of Newark.
The conference of the New Jersey Branch of the Women’s League of the United Synagogue of America, will be held in conjunction with the United Synagogue of America convention.
