Life in the occupied West Bank territory has more or less returned to normal although there were some “Israeli excesses in the first enthusiasm of victory” after the June war, according to Peter Nichols writing from Jericho in The Times today. The correspondent said that whatever the truth is about the alleged shooting of Arab refugees who tried to return to Jericho, it is now in fact “a city of no return.” The Israelis, he said, “have no intention of allowing the Arabs to undo the effect of their mass emigration in the summer.”
