Likud Knesset members sharply criticized comments by a Labor legislator in which he offended Moroccan Jews. Maj. Gen Ori Orr was quoted in the Israeli newspaper Ha’aretz as saying that Moroccan Jews are the “most problematic ethnic group” Orr added that Moroccan Jews in Israel “have no curiosity to know what’s happening” and that they interpret legitimate criticism as ethnically motivated. Orr later apologized for his remarks, but Labor leader Ehud Barak immediately kicked Orr off a high-powered Labor delegation that is due to arrive in Washington on Sunday.
