Likud Party leader Ariel Sharon easily defeated incumbent Ehud Barak in Israel’s election for prime minister. Sharon, who won by a projected 59.5 percent to 40.5 percent, according to exit polls, has 45 days to form a government and get it approved by the Knesset.
