Barney Balaban, president of Paramount Pictures Corporation, today presented the original manuscript of Abraham Lincoln’s first proposal to abolish slavery, which preceded the Emancipation Proclamation, to the New York Avenue Presbyterian Church.
Mr. Balaban said the “origins of the Lincoln Proclamation were “rooted in a basic Judaic-Christian concept–the integrity of the individual human personality.” He announced the establishment of a trust fund to provide awards to individuals who perform outstanding services in translating the spirit of the Emancipation Proclamation.
