Lion Feuchtwanger, noted German Jewish author who fled the Nazis, today learned here that he had been awarded this year’s East German National Prize for his work in art and literature. The award was made by President Wilhelm Pieck.
Mr. Feuchtwanger indicated, through his secretary, that he would accept the award. He recently accepted another award from West Germany. Mr. Feuchtwanger, who came to this country in 1940, has applied for United States citizenship.
