Efforts of Anglo-Jewish leaders to aid the German Jews in the present emergency will be coordinated by a new committee formed under the chairmanship of Lionel Nathan de Rothschild, it was announced today. Eleven leading Jews have been invited to join the committee.
Among the members of the emergency committee are Neville Laski, Leonard Montefiore, Chaim Weizmann, Otto Schiff, and Major Nathan Deal. The organization will be concerned with the problems of economic and social welfare of the German Jews during the continuance of the present policy of racial discrimination.
O. E. d’Avigdor Goldsmid, former president of the Board of Deputies of British Jews, is also a member of the new committee, and is reported to have sailed for the United States in connection with the committee work, and to discuss the coordination of funds for German-Jewish relief.
