Lipsky Urges Zionists to Prepare for Greater Activity in Future

Appreciation of the confidence expressed in him at the thirty-second annual convention of the Zionist Organization of America, was contained in a cablegram received in New York from Louis Lipsky, President of the Zionist Organization of America, who is at present in Switzerland, recovering from a serious operation he underwent in Palestine some time ago. Commenting upon the various resolutions of the Zionist Convention, Mr. Lipsky urges the Zionists of America to prepare for a year of enlarged activity and to formulate a program of extensive cooperation with the new Jewish Agency. The message also appeals for internal Zionist harmony.

Mr. Lipsky’s cablegram, made public by Mr. Morris. Rothenberg, Acting President of the Organization, read as follows:

“I deeply appreciate confidence of American Zionists as expressed at the Detroit Convention. Their virility, loyalty and devotion was finely demonstrated at the remarkable gathering. With united effort American Jewry can become the bulwark of the Jewish National Homeland in Palestine.

“In order to achieve our goal redoubled application, patience, devotion, and continued sacrifice on the part of Zionists is indispensable. I therefore appeal to all American Zionists to prepare for a larger and more fruitful effort during the coming year in cooperation with the extended Jewish Agency. I also appeal for internal Zionist harmony, without which Zionist influence will be ineffective and the national building of Zion and the Zionizing of Galuth will be endangered. Only through practical service for Palestine will unity and better understanding prevail.

“Express my heartfelt thanks which I feel is due to the Jewish press for the splendid cooperation they have been giving and are daily giving to the extension of the influence of the Zionist movement in America.”
