No new licenses will be issued by the Palestine government for the sale of intoxicating liquors in the country according to a decision reached here. Existing permits will be renewed upon expiration.
This decision is believed to have been prompted by recent imquiries from England as to the state of temperance in the Holy Land. Since few cases of drukenness are reported among the population and charges of intoxication in the courst are infrequent, the government decision to restrict liquor licenses comes as sonewhat of a surprise.
