Elections of new officers in the Lithuanian sick fund Kassas, social insurance semi-official institutions, were set for September 25, the day on which Yom Kippur falls.

Originally the elections were set for September 15, that is, the first day of Rosh Hashanah. When the Jewish members protested against this date of elections because it coincided with the holiday, the elections were postponed ten days, to the Day of Atonement.
