Jacob Wallach, a poor Jewish rabbi, has been evicted from his lodging in the Jewish quarters in the city of Lodz, it was learned here today.
Threatened once before with eviction, the rabbi appealed to his brother, Maxim Litvinov, Soviet Commissar of Foreign Affairs. Eventually $100 arrived, with no indication to the sender.
Rabbi Wallach, desperately ill, has again appealed to M. Litvinov, but so far there has been no response.
