The cost-of-living index rose by a barely perceptible 0.1 percent in November, an encouraging sign of lower inflation.
The figure, reported Sunday by the Central Bureau of Statistics, is one of the lowest monthly rises ever recorded. It was attributed mainly to a seasonal drop in the price of fruits and vegetables and a small decline in housing costs.
Spokesmen for both the Histadrut labor federation and the Manufacturers Association expressed cautious hope that the price index would remain low in the months ahead.
