The London executive of the Jewish Agency for Palestine, in a statement to the Jewish Telegraphic Agency today, denied a report in a New York Yiddish daily that an agreement for a $500,000 loan had been signed between the Jewish Agency and the London Imperial Chemical Industries Company, headed by Lord Melchett.
According to the story the loan was to have been used for building an irrigation system in the Jewish colonies in Palestine. The loan was to have been advanced by the Chemical concern at very small interest.
The executive of the Jewish Agency declared that negotiations for a much smaller loan were still pending between the Agency and the Imperial Chemical Company, but that no agreement had as yet been reached.
