Nearly a million dollars was loaned without interest charges to 15,465 individuals during the past year by the Hebrew Free Loan Society. This was learned yesterday when Julius J. Dukas, for twenty-nine years president of the organization, made public his yearly report at the Society’s forty-second annual meeting held at 108 Second avenue, the group’s main office. Offices are also maintained in Brooklyn and the Bronx.
This year’s total of loans is the largest number made during any of the five years preceding this one. It contrasts with 13,292 loans the previous year and only 9,551 loans in 1929. Since the founding of the society $25,429,699 has been loaned to 535,351 borrowers.
