An attempt by Saudi Arabia and other Arab countries to extend their anti-Israel and anti-Jewish boycott to Britain has been stifled at the very outset, it was revealed here today. The London Chamber of Commerce has flatly refused to certify that any British companies dealing with Arab states are not Jewish-owned.
The annual conference of the British Cooperative Party, an important constituent section of the Labor movement, adopted a resolution today expressing concern over the Middle East situation and making specific proposals for easing that tension. The resolution proposed:
1. The United Nations strengthen its observer teams along the Israel-Arab borders; 2. The UN again call on both sides to refrain from cross border raids; and 3. The UN make still another effort to bring both sides to the conference table to reach agreement on reducing border tension and leading to peaceful cooperation.
