Dr. Chaim Arlosoroff, Zionist labor leader who was slain in Palestine one year ago this week, was honored today at memorial services here in the offices of the Zionist Executive here.
Dr. Chaim Weizmann, head of the Zionist campaign to settle German Jewish refugees in Palestine, delivering the principal address at the services, declared that Palestine is erecting memorials to Arlosoroff in the form of settlements and institutions.
“But the greatest memorial is the void he leaves behind,” said Dr. Weizmann with emotion. “We must carry on and best honor his memory by trebling our work.”
Berl Locker, Zionist labor leader, deplored the circumstances surrounding the death of Arlosoroff which, he said, “reopen the wound anew every day and make references to his death difficult.”
Dr. Selig Brodetsky, head of the political department of the Jewish Agency, dwelt on the work and aims of Arlosoroff on behalf of a Jewish national home in Palestine.
Arlosoroff’s chief object was cooperation with Britain, the Arabs and others, he said. He expressed the hope that it would now be possible to establish internal cooperation in all quarters.
