A committee to deal with the problems of aiding the Marranos, the Crypt-Jews of Portugal, in returning to the Jewish faith, was formed here at a meeting at which representatives of the Spanish-Portuguese Synagogue and the Anglo-Jewish Association were present.
The meeting was called for the purpose of considering the report submitted to the Board of Jewish Deputies by Mr. Lucien Wolf, secretary of the Joint Foreign Committee of the Board of Jewish Deputies and the Anglo-Jewish Association, on the situation of the Marranos, following his visit to oPrtugal.
The committee which is composed of members of the Sephardic communities in Great Britain and of the Anglo-Jewish Association will have the right to coopt other members who are interested in the matter. A meeting of the committee will be called shortly.
