The Jugoslavian legation here today denied reports from New York that the Jugoslavian Government is sponsoring the settlement of German Jews in Jugoslavia.
A cable in the Jewish Morning Journal yesterday quoted the Jugoslavian Minister of the Interior as stating that “in view of our deep sympathy for the Jewish victims of Hitlerism, the Government of Jugoslavia in particular and the Serbian nation in general is ready to admit without any hindrance whatsoever, the healthy and impartial Jewish elements of Germany.
“I am certain,” he is quoted as saying, “that a mass immigration of such Jews would in the end benefit our national economy.”
