The London County Council yesterday lifted a ban on the showing of the East German-made anti-Nazi film, “Teutonic Sword,” and overruled a similar ban by the Public Control Committee.
The Control Committee and the British Board of Film Censors had banned the film for its alleged attack on West German Gen. Hans Speidel, commander of the NATO Central European Land Forces.
The County Council ruled that, if Gen. Speidel considered himself defamed by the film, he could sue the importers and distributors. Gen Speidel has indicated no interest in the matter to date.
