The Moslem conference on Palestine which was supposed to open here today under the chairmanship of Agha Khan has been postponed for at least a month, the Jewish Telegraphic Agency learned. Jamal Husseini, London representative of the Palestine Arab Executive, who has been here for several months keeping in touch with the Moslem delegates to the Indian round table conference, left for Palestine yesterday.
The scheduled Moslem conference had been awaited with a certain tension in Zionist quarters as Husseini’s aim was to counterbalance the negotiations between the Jewish Agency and the British government. His personal talks, however, went no further than several conversations with Dr. Drummond Shiels, under-secretary of state for the Colonies. Husseini saw neither Premier MacDonald nor Lord Passfield.
Husseini’s departure for Palestine is attributed to the fact that the center of interest in Palestinian matters has shifted from London to Jerusalem because of the Christmas recess of Parliament. Husseini is understood to be of the opinion that in the absence of parliamentary control he will be able to influence the Palestine government to carry out a number of the suggestions contained in the White Paper.
