Newspapers here carry a story about a London golf club which rejected the candidacy of a non-Jew who bears a Jewish name. The club, under the impression that the applicant was Jewish, declared that it does not admit Jews “except by mistake.”
The name of the club was not mentioned. At the same time, Scotland newspapers reported that Jews have established their own golf club near Glasgow. This club, the report states, is restricting membership to Jews only.
