In a strongly worded editorial the Daily Mail warned the World Zionist Congress now in session at Geneva against taking any action which might diminish the friendship between Great Britain and the Jews. Declaring that some of the delegates to the Congress apparently favored resistance to the British White Paper on Palestine by violent methods and that “plain words” had therefore become necessary the editorial said.

“Great Britain approves the policy now to be put into force. It will not change it at the demand of any international conference or in response to threats. Britain never promised to restore Palestine as a Jewish State. It has created for them a national home where a few million Jews may find not only sanctuary but prosperity. Britain spent in the past two years alone more than £8,000,000 in keeping the peace in Palestine. Britain has done more than any other country in the world to assist the Jewish victims of persecution for whom it continues to feel the most profound sympathy.”
