London Policeman to Stand Trial for Setting Fires in Jewish District; Sought Revenge

London police constable Clifford A. Weallans, 22, was committed today for trial at the Central Criminal Court en charges of setting fire to property in London’s Jewish-populated East End and causing $254,000 In damaged.

He was alleged to have made a statement in which he said “the reason I did this was to get my own back on the Jews. I saw many bad things done to cur men in Palestine and I wanted to even things up. I am terribly sorry for what I have done but I could not control myself.”
