Syria has stationed tanks near the demilitarized zone on the northern sector of the Israel border, where tributaries of the Jordan River supply water to Israel’s Negev Irrigation Project, press dispatches reported here today.
The Daily Telegraph noted that this was the first time since the Israel-Syrian Armistice Agreement was signed in 1949 that the Syrians have stationed tanks in this demilitarized zone.
