Police today were placed around three London synagogues which were threatened with destruction in an anonymous letter sent to the London Jewish Chronicle, signed only “The National Guard.”
The letter also threatened that prominent Jews would be kidnapped and flogged and ejected from public places and cafes throughout Britain. Jewish officials here were inclined to discount the letter as the work of “irresponsible persons” who had no intention of carrying out the threats.
